Habarana Safari

Habarana is a popular tourist destination for safari lovers as it is the starting point for safaris in the nearby Habarana jungle and the Minneriya sanctuary which is heavily populated by elephants. Elephant back riding is also an attraction in this small city. Habarana is situated nearby to the ancient rock fortress and castle/palace ruin of Sigiriya and is situated on the main road from Colombo to Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa and Batticaloa.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Sigiriya or Sinhagiri (Lion Rock) is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres (660 ft) high.

Pidurangala Rock

Pidurangala rock is found a short distance from the main Sigiriya rock and is far far less inundated with tourists. We definitely recommend this place for anyone with time in the area that is looking for peaceful exploration and beautiful views. Taking it slowly it would be a thirty minute climb and scramble to the top and obviously you don't have to go all the way up. As with all such things, sunrise and sunset visits are best but the incredibly good view of the Sigiriya Lion rock can be enjoyed at all times of day. The price for climbing this is far lower than the Sigiriya Rock and it makes a great alternative.

Minneriya/Kawdulla/Eco Park Jeep Safari

Minneriya National Park is a national park in North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The area was designated as a national park on 12 August 1997, having been originally declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1938.The reason for declaring the area as protected is to protect the catchment of Minneriya tank and the wildlife of the surrounding area. The tank is of historical importance, having been built by King Mahasen in third century AD. The park is a dry season feeding ground for the elephant population dwelling in forests of Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee districts.

Catamaran Ride

Experience the laid-back rhythms small village life in Sri Lanka during this private 5-hour day trip to the hamlet of Hiriwadunna. Observe wildlife like crocodiles, butterflies and birds at the local reservoir as local villagers fish and wash their laundry. Then take a boat ride to the other side of the lake.
